Obituary of Douglas Hohlt

It is with great sadness that my brother Doug Hohlt, age 68, of Sarasota, FL, lost his battle with cancer on August 23, 2023. Doug was a kind and gentle soul and a great father to his boys, Aaron, Cory, Ryan and Jared.  These last few months he fought with dignity and never wanted to leave his family.  My heart is broken but know that my baby brother, as he will always be, has made his final journey back to the love of his life and wife Snookie, Mom, Dad and Stan. The memories we shared growing up will forever make me smile.  

He was a great father, brother, grandfather, and a good friend.  Doug loved spending time with his family, walking his dog Kai, and had a special love for baseball. He worked as a Master Craftsmen in Cabinetry and passed on his trade to his sons and grandson. Doug was known for his quiet, thoughtful, and loving nature.

He is survived by his sons: Aaron Hohlt, Cory Hohlt (Bretteni), Ryan Hohlt (Abi), and Jared Hohlt (Alana), as well as his brother Kenneth Hohlt (Dee) and sister Kris Hohlt Niehaus. Doug will be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Jase, Phoenix, Aiyanna, Seth, and Alaina.  He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Hohlt, parents Kenneth Hohlt Sr. and Mary Arline Hohlt, and brother Stanley Hohlt.

Please join us in celebrating the life of Douglas Hohlt and honoring his memory.  Services will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on August 26, 2023.  Christ the King Catholic Church is located at 1900 Meadowood in Sarasota, FL. A Celebration of Life will take place in the Church Gathering room from 10-11 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
