Obituary of Harold Ervin Tinsley

Harold Ervin Tinsley of Sarasota, FL passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 18, 2022 at the age of 91. He was born December 17, 1930 in Fredericktown, MO to Floyd and Martha (Carver) Tinsley.  

After graduating High School, he enlisted in the US Navy in 1949 where he was on active duty aboard the USS Caliente as a Fireman and Electrician’s Mate. He then spent six years in the Reserves.   

He married the love of his life, Kathryn (Genon) Tinsley October 20th of 1951 in St. Louis, MO.  They were happily married for 70 years.  They lived in St. Louis until retiring in Florida. 

In 1958 he went to work for a newly established company, Coin Acceptors, Inc. (Coinco) from which he retired after 40 years. At the time of his retirement, he was the Home Office Domestic & Export Manager. 

Harold was a devoted father who provided a safe and loving environment for his five children. 

He was a big fan of Football, Basketball, and Baseball.  He enjoyed watching sunsets on the beach with his “Sweet Pretty Bride”.  He loved laughing and catching up with his kids and grandkids when they came to visit.   

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathryn (Genon), sisters Estelle, Helen and Vera, brothers Mavin, Melvin and Howard; daughter Rhonda Tinsley (Sprenke), and granddaughter Joyelle Sprenke (Wade).  

He leaves to cherish his memory; his daughters Harolyn Tinsley, Robyn (Steve) Kabbaz, Lisa (Scott) Murphy, and son James Tinsley; his grandchildren Daniel (Chris) Garrison, Christina Casciaro (Perdomo), Michael Tharp, Jason (Renee) Tinsley, Stephanie (Lucas) Hart, Andrea (Jon) Martin, Adam (Mary Kate Moore) Murphy, and Amanda Murphy as well as fourteen (14) great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  

He will be remembered as a wonderful, caring, supportive, hardworking man who deeply loved his family. He was dearly loved and will be truly missed.  

Harold will be laid to rest on March 31, 2022 at Sarasota National Cemetery.
